It Started With His Mother’s Diagnosis

Ben Sullivan didn’t plan to build an insurance agency. He planned to help his mother.

She was battling serious liver disease. The medical expenses weren’t just difficult, they were threatening everything the family had built. Bills from specialists. Prescriptions that cost what some families spend on groceries in a month. The kind of financial pressure that doesn’t announce itself until it’s already arrived.

Ben did what most people don’t do: he went deeper. He researched. He studied the actual structure of Medicare, not the simplified summaries, but the real layers underneath. He pushed past the surface explanations that satisfied other people.

What he found stopped him cold.

His mother qualified for catastrophic medication coverage. There was a Medicare Supplement plan designed to manage exactly the kind of costs she was facing at Mayo Clinic. The coverage existed. It had always existed. Nobody had told them. Nobody in their lives had known to look.

That moment, the gap between what was available and what people actually knew, became everything. It became Insurance Innovators LLC.

Nearly a decade ago, Ben entered the Medicare industry with one purpose: make sure no family goes through what his went through. The information was always there. The coverage was always available. What was missing was someone who knew where to look and took the time to explain it.
